arnoldsche Art Publishers Program Autumn/Winter 2020

Art has always been the stage and means of a lively internationalism, as illustrated here in our new autumn releases: In Tikimania, the “Young Wild One” Bernd Zimmer embarks on a search for traces in the South Seas to discover new colors and motifs. The Norwegian artist Thorvald Hellesen finds international recognition in the 1920s Parisian avant-garde circles of Picasso, Léger, and Brâncuși. While in exile in New York, Piet Mondrian encounters the American Charmion von Wiegand and sets off with her on an intense artistic collaboration. All are pioneering examples of real-life internationalism and a prolific pluralism in art.

In the year following the Bauhaus-anniversary, two extraordinary publications fdeal with the impact of the art school founded by Walter Gropius: Nordic Design. The Response to the Bauhaus. – and the publication Gestakt und Hinterhhalt [Form and Attack. A Reflection of the Bauhaus in the Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt]. Other spring releases deal with a wide range of exciting topics from the fields of art and design: from shoe design in the last 2000 years to early Meissen porcelain from Swiss private collections to current trends in artistic ceramics. In addition, our new standard work on contemporary jewellery art presents for the first time over 1700 objects from the Danner rotunda at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.

Arnoldsche Art Publishers Programm Herbst/Winter 2019

In our Autumn programme too, we would like to embrace the still current vision of the Bauhaus to dispel traditional boundaries between the most diverse genres in art. The Grotta Home in New Jersey represents a perfect symbiosis of ceramic, jewellery, and textile art, all incorporated in Richard Meier’s highly aesthetic architecture. Other new releases bring together, for example, ceramics and audio art, ceramics and painting, jewellery and surreal sculpture and jewellery and photography.
